Azores, school trip 2021-2022
In April, we had a school trip to
Azores, where we visited wonderful places and beautiful landscapes. One such example is this image. In this photo taken by
me at "Lagoa das Sete Cidades" we can see a beautiful landscape. It's
incredible to see how nature manages to create these landscapes without the
need of any human intervenience, it's all so natural and so green. Before going
to the Azores, we were told that the weather would be very unstable, but on the
days we spent there the weather was always fine, as we can see in the picture.
When I look at this and other photographs
I took in the Azores I only have good memories because those were incredible
days, with incredible people, that I will hardly erase from my memory. This is
one of those photographs that we look at and it gives us a good feeling because
we have good memories of those moments.
Azores/ São Miguel Island - Furnas
After
our arrival, on the 3rd of April, we went to visit Furnas on the island of São
Miguel. In the same place it was possible to take group photos and photos
of the landscape. These Furnas are
known for their strong smell of sulfur and for their geysers but also for the
famous stew of the furnas or stew, in Portuguese. This is made in holes in the
hot soil, the pans are sealed and the ingredients cook slowly, with the heat of
the earth itself. This delicacy is one of the essential experiences for anyone
visiting Furnas. Some holes,
especially dug for the stew, are public and visitors can prepare their own meal
as part of the local culture. Located in the municipality of Povoação, which
has a fixed population of around 1500 inhabitants, Furnas is located east
of Ponta
Delgada and southeast of Ribeira
Grande.
Rich
in thermal pools and boilers, it also houses the Poça da Dona Beija and Terra
Nostra Park, a haven for animal life and native species in the region. The Lagoa de Furnas completes the stunning
scenery, with an estimated altitude of
600 meters and which attracts visitors who venture through the place,
known for having natural pools of volcanic mud and warm waters that, according
to local tradition, are good for the health of body and soul.
This
trip was an experience we will never forget.

School trip to
the Azores
Last April, my classmates and I went to the Azores on a school trip. I was very anxious and happy because it was the first time I was flying. Personally I liked the take-off more than the landing, because in the last ten minutes of landing my ears felt like they were going to explode.
On the first day in the Azores, we could only enjoy the night at the pier, the harbour is beautiful, with a walkway over the sea and many cafes with terraces. As it was Saturday there were many people on the street, which created a pleasant atmosphere. Then we went to the inn to sleep, but we didn’t sleep much because we all got together in the living room playing cards. The next day we went to the thermal waters and I loved it, I think it was what I liked most to visit, the water of the boiler of Dona Beija and Terra Nostra park were very warm and relaxing. At lunch we would make a stop on the shopping and buy something quick to eat and follow the trip. At night we would always go to the harbour.
We spent the nights in each other’s rooms until we felt sleepy. In the last two days we went to see the ponds. The ones I liked the most were the Seven Cities and the Canary. We sailed by boat on the high seas, but it went well, I was not in a bad mood, just wet. Lastly we visited the coal cave. I did not like it very much, it was very fast and little detailed. Most of my classmates left as early as that afternoon, but I and four classmates stayed one more night and boarded the day after.
I loved the Azores, it’s all very natural with a little man’s hand. I was impressed by the way nature can create such beautiful and healthy places. It is undoubtedly a trip that I recommend and hope to make again.
