Azores, forever in our hearts

The tropical characteristics of the Azores

Here in this brief text, I will describe the place where the most exotic and momentous monuments that we had the opportunity to know are situated, the Furnas of the Azores Islands. Firstly, the caves are hydrothermal vents, these are fissures in the crust through which fluids and gases such as sulfur emerge. For the first time, we were able to enter a hot spring, which was a very peculiar and good feeling. At first sight, we could see the gases liberate into the air, but the problem was the sulfur smell. The most fascinating for me were the stews they made there. They would put the hash into submerged holes with boiling water coming from the interior of the Earth and let it be there for 6 hours, after which it was ready to eat. I thought the caves were impressive because it was one of the only places where you could see water coming directly from the Earth's interior.

Azores - The Dream Trip

IT FINALLY HAPPENED! WE FINALLY WENT TO AZORES! It doesn't even seem like it was in 10th grade that our biology teacher said she would take us to visit São Miguel in Açores in 11th grade. Time really flies. Well this picture was taken in Poça da Dona Beija, there is the whole class plus the teachers' daughters, everybody is happy, who would have thought that we would be in this beautiful place. In the background we can see beautiful nature, everything is very green, the water was very hot but it was very nice. I hope we never forget about these moments because this was one of the best days of my life.

Pyjamas laughing night in São Miguel

This trip was a mix of emotions, but the most important thing for me was the time I spent with my class, the fact that I have a united and well-disposed group makes these trips even full of unforeseen events, perfect, I think that we stayed one night in that hotel. It was really the best thing that happened to us, I remember all of us being together in the rooms, going for a walk on the tamariz beach all together and being all happy about it. The dinners, lunches, everything… it was such a great way to socialize, to spend time with them and have fun. In the Azores, the same thing, the difference is that for a while we had with other groups, at dinners and so, I found myself on a random balcony, during the night, everyone in sweats and pyjama pants talking about everything, everything and something more. The dinners were always super lively, always singing and cheering up the crowd. We saw incredible landscapes, although the biology teacher was always asking to take pictures of us together, in all we must have around 182763 group photos, but that is part of the process, so that one day we can look back and see how happy we were at that moment . The photos, the laughs, the conversations, all that contributes to our psyche, at that moment I was really happy, without thinking about the tests, sheets, works, presentations, etc... it was perfect and I hope to do many trips like this with them again, I am happy to know that if we receive each other so well, we go from strangers to best friends. I remember the smell that was in our room, waking up feeling sleepy and hungry after staying in our rooms until 4 am having “deep talks”, making friends with young people from Porto, playing cards with them, traveling singing kicks and kicks and if I was to say everything I remember, I wouldn't stop here. Anyway, it was unforgettable. " IT'S INSANE!"

The so promised school trip

The school trip to São Miguel in the Azores had been promised since year 10, on which we would see some of the geological phenomena that we had studied in the classroom. In the early hours of April 1st, the day of the trip, we were all excited, especially, as it would be to spend four days without our parents. It was fantastic. What struck me most were the many shades of green, the different colours of the water, the tranquillity of the cows and the ponds that appear and disappear unexpectedly. People seem to never rush, except when they fly behind the wheel of a car. What no photo can show are the moods of the weather, the mild temperature and the way people talk, which reveals how different we are and at the same time all Portuguese. The photo I chose represents almost all of this, it's the Azores in a photo.

MULTICULTURALISM: A Tale of Tolerance

The video I'm sharing with you intends to motivate a class discussion on the topic of Multiculturalism. I hope you enjoy it.
School trip to the Azores São Miguel ( Poça da Dona Beija and Terra Nostra Park ) On the first day in the Azores we set off to discover different places on the island, but what I liked the most was the visit to the Furnas . When we arrived at the village of Furnas , we got off the bus and started walking through the village until we arrived at the Poça da Dona Beija . There we were able to relax after all the frustrating plane trips we had been through. The waters were warm and rich in minerals that are good for the skin. There was also a strong smell of iron in the air because of the quantity of the minerals in the water. After being at Poça da Dona Beija , we went to Terra Nostra Park , which has a giant lake with hot water. Before going to the thermal pool we had lunch. The food tasted really good . After resting for a while we went to the pool. This time the water was brown, but still very warm. After a long time we got back on the bus and continued our visit through the land...
